Were these Roosevelt, Mercury or earlier ? I'd be interested to know if any of them are special, circulated proofs, etc.

Might be OK depending on what they are. If Mercury dimes and in decent shape, OK. If Roosevelts and all beat up, not to good. People always say MELT values but remember just where would you go to get them melted?
