I didn't go for the gold-plated campgate--I got this one instead, for a bit less. It was the portrait that clinched it for me--what do you think, worth the $31?

Very nice. I'm jealous. Great detail both sides, but the obverse is fantastic.

Thanks--the obverse really grabbed me--and I look for deals too.
This one's from Denant--part of a group to combine shipping.

Didn't know who that seller was, so I went searching and I found him. Pretty nice selection.

The best I have seen, but I don't recognise the style on the face on the portrait. It may be a peculiar style attributed to the mint.

There is a coin of Constantine 11 on the VCOINS site, with a portrait of him that is noted as him being eleven years old.

I found that--yes, he does have more of a "baby face" than my coin.

That is one very pretty coin DVC.

I have a question..........

Why are people gold plating some of these roman coins? Does that increase the value? OR does it just preserve it? I am confused why it is done.

OK.....good. My first inclination when I saw these on ebay is: they are not naturally made like that and plating them sure does NOT increase the value for ME! I don't like gold plated anything!

So, basically it is just ruining a piece of history by putting a shiny cover on it. Couldn't you just go and punch out those people that gold plate coins! Makes me so mad.

Yeah, I am not too happy about the idea of gold-plating ancients. Leave that for the State Quarters; don't do it on valuable and interesting pieces of history.

Kurt, thanks--that explains why I could not match the mint mark--is that PTR dot in crescent?
I'll look into Constantius II
