Hi all,

First time poster, was directed here as a good knowledge base.

I've stumbled across an old Fraser/Cole $5 Note - serial AA 19 210 648

Just wondering if it's anything remotely interesting or rare?

Cheers in advance for any and all help!

Ahdren

It's rare to find one in circulation, but I wouldn't say it's particularly rare overall.

According to the Vort Report's of 2009, 2010 & 2011 (which is basically a survey of 5000 of each denomination of banknotes) there were 0 (yes ZERO) of the original Cole/Fraser (& Evans/Fraser before the re-colour) original coloured banknotes found.
There were 110,087,880 $5 Fraser/Cole notes printed back in 1992. But when you consider that it made up 13.4% of overall $5 notes printed, it's always odd that there are none around. The reason for none being around is simply that they have all worn out.
Through my till at work, I've seen less than a dozen over the past three years.
There's not too many of them around any more.
It is one of those things though, if you don't have one, it's always that little bit different. I'm sure most collectors of notes (& maybe even coins will have one in their collection being that in escence; as they've basically been discontinued, I'm sure if you took one to the bank they'd probably put it with the rest of the paper notes to be replaced & later destoyed by the RBA.)
As for what it's worth...I'm sure people would give you five dollars for it. Someone might even offer you the McDonalds priice for Fine condition which is $6.
