Upon my roll searching the last week, I have come across 2 different boxes. 1 box had shrink wrapped coins that are obviously all new from the mint and the other box had nicely paper wrapped green and white striped rolls which I was told are from the mint as well. Question is... If I got a box with these white and green paper wrapped coins from the mint...Are there treasures in there and worth searching or stick with a smaller quantity and get the customer wrapped coins only? What have you found out regarding all this?

I know that some boxes have little holes on the box so the customer can visually confirm all the rolls are in the box. If that's the case, I would totally look for years with the errors, but then again, you'd have to be able to choose between boxes.

But it seems you get skunked on a lot of CWRs but every so often, you get someone's change that's been sitting in a jar for over 20+ years and hit a silver jackpot.

If I was in your situation, I'd get a box and a few CWRs. Check the CWRs first and if it's decent, go back and clean them out of them. The banks I usually deal with, prefer to hold Bank Wraps since some customers won't take CRWs due to a better chance of not adding up or something I don't understand yet. But all banks are different so feel them out first, try to be chatty, because being friendly can get you information you would have never gotten.

The clear plastic rolls are mint fresh rolls. I usually just check the end coins to see what year the rolls are from. Most likely it will be a solid box of the same year, but there is a chance that the rolls could be mint rolls for earlier years as well if it was from someones collection. I believe the clear wraps started in 1995? I keep a few mint rolls for myself and return the rest for a different box.

For the green and white rolls...check the end coins and see if they are different dates. They could be from the coin distribution center in your area. In my area...Northern Ontario...the Distribution center rolls I get are white with red lettering. Once you determine if they are random dates rolls...to search them or not is up to you. I base my decision on which denomination the coins are. For Distribution center rolls I will only search Cents (Penny) and 10 cent (dimes). I have searched several of each denomination of coinage from Distribution center and in my area I found that the quarters had nothing older then 1975 and that nickels had nothing older then 1982 with 95% of the boxes searched were 2000+. You never know though. Search what you like. You never know what is waiting for you in the next roll.
