I just picked up an Ngc slabbed 1897 s barber half vf35 , which for me was a good deal of money. I have a question about the slab itself. On the bottom of the slab it looks to be fused? Does anybody have pictures of the sides of the slab, in particular the top and bottom of the sides of the slab? And if a coin has been graded by NGC and was cleaned, would they annotate that on the holder? I've seen numerous that did say cleaned but do they all? Thanks

If it was determined "cleaned" by NGC it would have stated "details" on the slab insert. I believe that the slab is fused together, and if it was tampered with it would be obvious.

Thanks, that is what I thought but the bottom has that super glue looking haze, only in one spot and the rest of the holder doesn't look "hanky"

The edges often have a melty look in parts where they are fused, it's not always consistent around the holder.

Is it the newest NGC slab that holds the coin on four sides? Its probably the slightly older version of the NGC slab... the seam on them is not exactly confidence inspiring... The first time I saw one it looked re-glued almost. The newer version looks better.

Ill take some pics of the sides of one of mine and post em

It doesn't look to be the newest slab as the hologram is quite worn on the back. It's my first NGC coin so I wasn't sure it was right, my others are PCGS.

Perefect! Mine is like your top two photos so I guess it has not been tampered with. That makes me feel a lot better!
