I believe this cob is a Potosi eight real piece by the assayer initial B but mint mark is missing. Has been holed and repaired. Any input would be appreciated.

You are right for the king, it's definitely Felipe II.
This essayer is Juan de de Ballesteros - but I don't have the appropriate book to be sure of more details (Paoletti's book).
You are right, this cob should be from Potossi - although some are catalogued from Lima with this design / essayer letter (at least according to my Catalog Calico).
Except from the hole, it's fairly complete :)

Thanks Mathieu. To bad about the repaired hole but that's the way it goes. Bought this in Madrid in the late 80's at Plaza Mayor for 20,000 pesos.

that's about 120 euros - it would sell for more now IMHO :)
They are usually not that nice and complete - you have almost all the legend.

I am impressed with this coin, despite the hole. It is on the first step to being a 'royal strike'!
