I see the new 20$ silver coin has a new picture of the Queen on the front or back ;-) .
double headed coin ( heads I win tails you loose :-)
I think it looks a bit better then the old one.
Might be a good time to change it.

It would be nice if they did, but don't think it will happen.

Below is the # of years for each effigy.

1953-1964 12 years
1965-1989 25 years
1990-2003 14 years
2003-2012 10 years and counting

I do like the effigy on the $20. But the Queen is looking the other way now?

Since the new portrait is on the commemorative side (reverse), I don't believe it needs to adhere to the traditional rules regarding the facing direction of the monarch's portrait. I'm guessing it also makes it clear which side is to be considered the obverse and which the reverse.

Has anyone bought this coin? I really love it and the mintage number is low so I'm concerned about having a hard time tracking it down later. At the same time, oh my that's quite a premium!

I included one in my order back at the end of February. Haven't received it yet though. I'm a bit of a softy for the queen though :-).

I've never liked the 2003 effigy. The one on the $20 looks much nicer to me. I hope it is eventually adopted.

I agree the 2003 adopted effigy is in my humble opinion my least favorite depiction of Elizabeth, I wish they would change it.
