Hello everyone,
I recently started collecting. Been reading all the posts here since and have learned a great deal. Thanks everyone!
A while back, I was lucky to find one of the 12 from the 1992 commemorative 25 cents silver set in my changes. I didn't do any research on it until I was going through my keep pile again today. The one I found, which features Ontario, is still in great condition but obviously it's showing some smudges from handling. I don't have anything like protective sleeves or anything right now so I just wrapped it in a piece paper.
I really like the design of the entire series after some research. I am looking for your input, how much should I pay for a box set? The center dollar piece is kind of lame, I don't think it goes that well with the rest, personally. What do you think?
Thanks in advance!

Similar discussion covered in this recent thread; it should answer your question: https://goccf.com/t/116323Personally, I think all the coins in the set have attractive designs that were well executed. I paid about $90 for my silver set.

125 years of confederation? I got quite a few in my change. None of mine is silver though.

hello commems! Thanks for the reply!
I will look up for a box at that price range. I really like the design of the set. I guess as an investment, this is pretty bad. 20 years later it's still lower than the issued price.
hello Amaths! You will just have to keep your eyes on the change. So far I've only another silver nickel from 1947 and some pennies from the earlier days. The chance is slim but when I find one, I'm super happy. :)

by any chance, anyone would know the mintage of this set? I looked high and low but couldn't find it.

welcome! Re: the silver nickel from 47, I think it might be nickel instead of silver.

@sokkos, I mean a silver dime. I do have a nickel from the same year, another one of my happy find. Thanks for correcting!

Per Charlton: the total number of silver sets sold was 84,397 and there were also a total of 651,812 individual coins sold.

@CC-Ottawa, I consider myself lucky finding one of the silver in my change. Maybe someone out there finds all 12 of them could use a case like this

Love your tag line Toronto1... puts your posts and comments into perspective when you've already come out to say nay to all :)
@tocoins: the Charlton guide is really useful, in addition to just an interesting read, to have. Most bookstores will carry at least the second most recent edition in their hobby section, and any dealers worth their weight will carry the most recent.

@poboxw, I'm not sure if I want to get a Charlton guide like you suggested. I know it'd be great for someone like me who only recently started collecting, I have a terrible tendency of going overboard at the beginning of things. I'm afraid it'll go out of control if I have a Charlton guide in hand :(
