I always check my Sear book references to get a bit of information that might relate to the ancient I am considering to buy. I usually go to the VCOINS website to check similar coins before buying. WILDWINDS site also good, but you can't get a price indication from there. For significantly more expensive ancients I like to have the coin in hand before buying, unless the dealer is of the highest reputation. Keep all purchase information in a separate place to the collection for all ancients over say, $100 purchase price. Looks like a nice coin for the price. I would be happy with it. I see that almost all of the vcoins examples have cf or ar under the chin. The one I am looking at does not show any writing under the chin. I wonder about that. Report this Post to the Staff

You can see nose outlined like the one I am looking at on a couple of these also. Maybe these had a double strike of the hammer? Report this Post to the Staff
