It seems to still be a mystery coin. So what is the conclusion, so far? It is definitely Roman, correct? And who does that face belong to?

I'm bugged that I cannot find a match to that Greek. Here's probably the best search database on provincials to narrow down this coin. Fortunately, the portrait narrows down the possiblities.

OK, I need to get this one. It is bugging me to death. I thought (think) it is a Pertinax, but it may be Lucius Verus or even some other emperor. One thing I have found from another posting is that the coin is from Commagene. Does this help anyone come up with something more definitive?

I'm still having trouble attributing this coin. I found this coin of Aelius on wildwinds and although the bust is reverse, could it be close to the coin I posted?

Wow JW
How did you find that?
The reverse looks like you got it and some letters match on obv.
What is the attribution for the one you posted?
This coin was driving me crazy too.

Actually I mis-typed. I have no idea why I said Aelius. The coin I found is of Lucius Verus:
Samosata, Lucius Verus 161-169 AD. 7.92 g. A K L AVRH OUHROS SEB, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left / F SAM IER ASY AYT MHT KOM ET AS, turreted Tyche seated left on rock, holding poppy and two ears of corn, resting arm on rock, resting foot on swimming river-god (Euphrates). BMC 30
I think it looks similar, but I haven't found one with the obverse bust facing right? I am leaving in an hour or so for a trip out of country. Perhaps you can find something as I am running short on time.

I wish I could take all the credit, but I had a ton of help. A little piece here and a little piece there. Another collector told me: "The name is written on the obverse : AKΛAVP : A(utocrator) K(aisar) L(oukios) AUR(elios)...Lucius Verus. No doubt."
I still haven't completely attributed it, but when I return I plan to. Thanks for everyone's help as, like I said, this was driving me (and still is) crazier than I already am.
Regards,

I took another photo of the coin, under slightly different lighting, to try and tease out any shadows. I don't know if this adds any clarity to the writing... If it helps.

Great detected work JW! Quote: ...turreted Tyche seated left on rock, holding poppy and two ears of corn, resting arm on rock, resting foot on swimming river-god Oh... that Tyche! That was my very next guess.

JW: Looks like you have made some good progress on this one. Any other details? Would this be a provincial coin? Approximate Date? Thanks.

Yes, we have come a long way on this coin. I was hoping that someone would have attributed it while I was away, but, hey, it gives me the chance to work on it again. It is a provincial coin from Samosata. I have not pinned down the date it was struck, but if I can attribute it, the date should be relatively easy. I plan to keep working on it unless someone else has something.
