I'm pulling this from a previous thread last week, basically where I started.

Quote:
It was a Brinks sealed box and I asked the teller if she could please open it for me to make sure they were not all new mint 2010's or '11's shields. She did and they were all plastic wrapped, I went ahead and picked up a roll and looked at the end, 1972, and though oh yeah were in business

Going through the box now and trying to fill a 1959 - 1998 book, I figured I might as well since i'll be looking through 2500 pennies. I also bought a '30 - '58 for wheats. I didn't get the 1909 - '30 because I though those years would be more difficult to find and fill.

I may start a new thread with my findings, pictures and statistics (I'm keeping track).

Ok, so here we go. I was unsure of what to keep track of but I recorded coppers, 1982's, wheats and foreigns.

Roll50: Coppers: 13 - 82's: 1 - Wheats: 1950D

Sorry about the formatting but you get the idea, the first roll I got two wheats! and roll 26 a 1880 IHC, wow.
Don't really know why I was keeping the stats on 1982's I think it was a significant date and that's why, but there really was no reason to. Oh, and of the coppers I found a GOOD majority were mid 1970 coins.

Here is the Box breakdown:
566 Coppers - 22.64% of the box was copper
13 Wheats - .52% was Wheats
8 Canadian - .32% was Canadian
1 IHC

Roll Breakdown:
11.32 Coppers per roll
.26 Wheats per roll
.16 Canadians per roll

I figured you guys/gals would like some pic's so here are the 1909 and the 1880, both really worn. I also apologize for the images I cant get my camera to focus that close. If you want other pictures let me know and I'll post them.

Oh and here is a special bonus, as I was in the bank today to pick up my second box I asked the teller if they had any halves. She replied yeah we have $9.50 and I said I'll take them. On the way out I was looking at the edges and bingo saw a clean silver edge, a 1964. Here it is.

What should I do with the half I know not to clean coins but its hard to tell the date because of the dirt/grime & tarnish? Can I clean the silver, do they even tarnish? This is my first silver coin so I'm pumped.

Lastly, before I start my second box any thoughts on what to keep track of other that what I have? Give me some ideas, or just leave it.

Please, leave him alone. It may just be my opinion, but I think he looks okay the way he is.

That's a great box and there was a lot going on too! Probably not too well represented for a regular box, 09 and IHC is not your typical finds. Congrats again!

Yeah, going to leave the coins as-is.

When I opened that roll and the IHC fell out in front of me my jaw dropped. I said to myself how could this still be in circulation!

I started the 2nd box and its already looking nice only 10 rolls in and had 6 wheats already, plus there seems to be an unusual amount of coppers. I'll post all the stats when I'm finished. The first box was a Brinks, this second one is a N. F. String.
