I check this thread every so often to see what everyone has added. I have not made any new currency purchases though I was bidding on a national in the Newman sale at Heritage. Long story short the note sold for more than I could afford. Cool thing though I did watch the Heritage live feed as they sold Continental currency, Confederate currency and on. ----------------- techwriter I don't know if you are aware of this but there is an 1893-1894 Missouri State Gazetter and Business Directory free online http://cdm.sos.mo.gov/cdm/compoundo...ll7/id/48301I have enjoyed looking up various towns and cities to see what was listed. -MV |

Wheat - There are many collectors of small size Fed Reserve notes and innumerable ways to collect them - by series, by denomination, by district, by light/dark seal colors, stars or any combination of these.

I have only been hunting/collecting notes for a couple weeks now and have not spent more than face value yet. I've had great luck so far in finding a few star notes, a 1950-$10 note, a couple red & orange seal $2 note's, & a $1.00 note with the serial number 03-02-01-00. Most of these came in the first week of collecting. Today I added 2 (1957 & 1957 A) $1.00 note-blue seal silver certificate's from a local bank. Pretty worn and some marks on 1 of them, but very cool just the same. Glad to have them.

I need help for that. I have my camera phone but don't know how to get a good pic as I have not bought any of the things I see others using to get good closeup pictures. Also not sure how to get it from my phone to computer or forum if I did anyhow. I'm a couple years shy of 50, but I have not really embraced technology. My nephew shamed into switching from my flip phone a couple years ago...I started texting 6 or 7 months after that (not kidding). I'm one of the few who uses my phone as a phone.

The reason behind my request for a photo is that many unscrupulous individuals manipulate RED seal notes, especially deuces.
The BEP did not produce any small size ORANGE seal notes.

Often the seals on these chemically-treated notes can appear yellow as well.

There's a section in tutorials (button at the top of every page) that gives instructions on how to upload photos and post to a topic. I don't think it tells you how to get the photos from your phone or camera to your PC. I typically email myself the photo to an account I can access from my PC.

TY Steve & Coinfrog. The bill is so beat I don't think it has any extra value anyhow. It does look weird so it could have been someone's experiment. Anyhow, just got back from the bank as I was told they had $740 in halves which I grabbed. Also was given a 1953 A red seal $2.00 note. Much better condition than the other 2 I got but still far from mint. I need some help in general with my phone being used in anyway other than a phone CelticKnot. When I get a good find I will try to get some good pictures up. Not sure if my phone camera alone is good enough for close up pics though.

It probably will be good enough, but if you're running Windows 10, you can easily scan, edit and save directly to your photo file - it's a lot faster than taking pics.
