I have been trying to list an item but there seems to be a new listing format. The format is very easy to use but there is not a tab in the description area that allows you to switch to HTML which is how I normally add photos in this area.

Anyone know what is going on? -Kurt

I think you may have switched into the "Simple Form"

If you scroll to the very top, there should be a link that says "Switch To Form With More Choices"

If this is what the screen looked like when you are trying to list an item, then you were in the "Simple Form"

No, I have seen the simple form. This is much more troublesome. I have done a bit more research and have found that this NEW form is in BETA testing. The help forum says that this new form may or may not be used going forward. It also says that all I need to do is use the link at the top of the page to 'opt out' of the testing but this option is no where to be found.

Sorry to tell everyone but I think the days of advanced HTML options are limited.

If anyone comes across this NEW listing form there is a feedback tab on the right of the form. I URGE everyone to give this new form poor ratings. YES it is easy to use but all the advanced features experienced sellers are used to are not available in the new format.

My listing format is still the same with the choice of standard or html I know that ebay will not charge for pictures starting in July but I will still prefer to list with larger HTML pictures:

Free pictures coming in July!
Your upfront cost of selling on ebay is going down again! Now, starting July 2, on top of listing up to 50 items Auction-style FREE each month, you'll get FREE pictures for all your listings , both Auction-style and Fixed Price. You can upload up to 12 pictures per listing and all 12 pictures will be free--including free zoom and enlarge! Listings with lots of great quality photos sell more, so start loading up now.

Thats good to know. I have been trying to use the 'list similar items' options from my past auctions to list items tonight and it is working BUT shockingly all my HTML photos from these previous listings have 'link not allowed' posted all over the HTML section of the old listings. Change is such a bummer when you are pressed for time and trying to get stuff done.

That is odd. I just relisted an item and had no problem with the HTML pictures. Good luck figuring it out. Maybe there is a problem with your photo site?

From ebay's Faq's page on the new listing form that is in Beta Testing:

Why would I want to use the new listing form?

This new way to list an item is designed to help you create a successful listing by showing you how other sellers have listed items like yours and offering you suggestions along the way.

We want to take the guess-work out of listing on ebay and help you sell your item fast, at the price you want. You've decided what you want to sell--now let us guide you. We'll help you choose the best listing format, price, and shipping options for your item, based on the information we have from past sales prices, current listings, and shipping labels printed on ebay. You'll be able to change any of these, if you want--they are just meant to give you a sense of the market.

Where are all the features I'm used to seeing in the Sell your item form?

You'll notice that the new listing form is shorter and faster to get through than our other listing forms, and it doesn't have as many of the advanced features that experienced sellers normally use. We're keeping this one simple, giving you fewer decisions to make, so that you can list an item quickly. We want everyone--even those people who've never used ebay before--to be able to sell the products they have laying around the house, so we left out the complicated features and are keeping it fun, straightforward, and easy.

If you'd rather list with the features that are missing from this form, you can still use the other listing forms--but maybe this one will work better for you when you're in a hurry or you need some extra guidance.

Will this replace the other listing forms?

Maybe someday, but not any time soon, and your input will help us figure out when and how to do that. In the meantime, this new way to list an item is an experimental form, available only on our U.S. site. We'll gather your comments and continue working hard to improve it and expand it to our other sites.

Who can use the new listing form?

You can use it right now! Click Try it out to start listing items, and let us know what you think. If you'd like, you can opt out and continue using the existing ways to list an item.

How much does it cost?

Using this new way to list doesn't create any new fees. The standard fees, such as an Insertion Fee, Final Value Fee, or PayPal fees, will apply as normal to the listings you create with the new listing form. Learn more about fees.

How can I go back to using the other listing forms?

You can click the Opt out link at the top of the new listing form to go back to the Sell your item form. When you're ready to try it again, you can visit the

The above statement about the opt out link is no where to be found on the listing page
