I'm taking a stab at that Pop 1 1989. I wonder what the reserve is?

I was thinking the same thing on all of them...what is the reserve?

I'd be really curious to know what they go for. but it seems like with something like the 1989 we could just find another one in a mint set... The pcgs guide price is 2750

Interesting that David Lawrence (DLRC) chose to take the ebay approach for this amazing set of Lincoln sets. I have been a customer of DLRC for over 3 years now ... buying a coin here and there ... mostly classic silver commemorative and a few Peace dollars. They have their own fine web-page ... their own auction system ... and in general have been around a long time doing what they do. Curious about the motivation for ebay ... however ... Great coins if you need them and can afford them. David

I posted it here https://goccf.com/t/112740 about 2 weeks ago when DLRC posted that he would be offering the set on ebay on the 15th. This is the Number 4th best set of all time on the PCGS registry and there are allot of big players in the Lincoln Cent registry so these will probably all sell for high money, especially the pop1 coins in the set

To me these pop 1 coins are just from lack of people feeling the need to grade coins of that era. I find it hard to believe that a grade of 68 is that hard to achieve with soooooo many being minted in these years.

$74 for a MS66RD 2010-D cent? Really? I've paid less for MS66FB Mercury dimes!

The values and low pops are certainly not derived from something as simplistic as lack of submissions, those lofty grades are truly conditional rarities. The 1980s Zincolns are notorious for black spots, split plating, and zinc rot- all things that will cause a dramatic downgrade. The split plating and zinc rot has gotten better over time but recent cents are still occasionally plagued by black planchet rinse spots and bagmarks due to the ballistic pallet transportation measures- a million cents banging into each other in not conducive to finding ultra-high grade examples.

but! I also agree with, " you buy the coin not the slab." Biggfredd calls this "slobbing." I was not sure of his definition but this is a pure case of it. Hope Biggfredd jumps in on this.
