I've just been through $70 of 5 cent pieces today and came across 3 72s, one of which will be returned to the pond.

Just wondering what others are averaging on these at present?

That's pretty good
Finding about 1 for every $60 dollars (1200 5c pieces) though none in the last lot of $50 I looked at.
Statistically you should find 2 for every $50 but many taken out of circulation due to spolage and collections so 3 in $70 is pretty good

I found 2 in 50 yesterday but it is usually one in $70-80 I think. My record is 9 in $100 and worst is non in over $200

I searched through $150 (3000 coins) & found 7 (1 was real shabby) 1972's...but that ratio was 1 in 435 coins ($21.75) or a 0.23% hit ratio.

One odd thing I found was a mere 13 of 1990 & 14 of 1991 in the same lot. Then I looked up their mintages, possibly some coins to hold on into the future.

There were a few Cuds, a lamination, a couple hardcore polished dies, a sixpence, two mis-strikes, about 10 international coins & even a 10 cent piece substituted for 2x5's.

That is an insane $150.00

7 1972 is very very good.

I have only ever found one mistrike and would have to be getting near $5000 of 5c searched so I'm very jealous you found 2.

Please post pics of the mistrikes for us.

The 1991 can be frustrating when trying to compile a set.

Enworb, when I'm back at home I'll try & get some images up. We're getting floorboards done & my wife is 3/4 of the way through her pregnancy so, we're avoiding those toxic fumes at the moment.

Found one in a roll this morning. Opened it whilst I was getting ready for work. From a batch of $20. Not too bad a coin. Was not expecting it! Have three more rolls to open which I am just about to do and then more rolls from the bank in the morning.

Enworb: Here's the two little gems that I found. I'm a big fan of decimal mis-strikes. In the past I paid anywhere between $50-$100. But if I can noodle one, then why would I pay more than face value?

The nice one is the 2002:

Here's the slighter of the two. Still well off centre, but has the nice rim to prove its worth.

I'm a big fan, I would kiss it but it's got the Queen on it & echidna's are very pointy.
