Actually it's a One Penny, not a half penny. I'll check my Charlton catalog later but I do know it is a common token worth less than $10.

I don't know the catalogue number but these are impressive, large and heavy pieces. Hard to believe they were in a pocket once. They must have had well reinforced pockets at the time! In this well worn state they're not worth much but what pieces of history they are!

It's one of those coins that puts holes in your pocket.

KM# Tn3. Upper Canada Penny. 1.5 million minted. Catalogue value VG8 $4.50. VF20 $12.00. Have seen poor specimens selling on ebay for amounts far in excess of catalogue value.

Thank you everyone. I know it must be hard to see on the picture, but could this coin possibly be in VF grade ?

PC-6D (Province of Canada), Br 719, Co. 275 to 310UC, W330. Condition could not be btter than Fine. The token is made of copper. It was struck at the Heaton Mint. The bank issued notes dated from 1822 to 1861, and failed in 1866.

So, even though there is no visible scratch on the coin, most details are clear and there is only slight wear that I can see, this coin grades below VF ? What other features could make this coin grade so low ? Here is 2 other pictures:

These pictures show better than the first two posted where it looks like the coin is worn. Is that rim damage at 3 o'clock on the 2nd picture?

Look at the details of this one on ebay. You can see in comparison how much has been lost on your coin due to wear.
