Attached are scans of a Galicia & Lodomeria 30 Kreuzer 1776, issued under Austria for a region that currently forms parts of Poland and Ukraine.

Whilst the reverse seems quite normal, as illustrated in KM, the obverse is quite different. Unfortunately the portrait has been partially obliterated by an old mount mark, however the legends are clear but completely different from those that should be on this coin.

What I would like to know is this: is this a mule with the obverse of some other coin (if so what) or is it a forgery or jeweller's imitation? The coin appears to be of the correct thickness and of good silver.

I am sure that one of you who is far more knowledgable than me about 18th century Polish coins will be able to provide the information.

Thank you for the catalogue ref: however this confirms the differences with my coin from the normal issue. I will upload higher resolution picture.

Inscriptions on my coin are:

Rev: ARCHID AUS.DUX.OSW.ZAT 1776 30.KR. in exergue; I.C.F.L below

I have noticed in the past that these coins Auschwitz/Zator Duchy 15 or 30 kreuzer from 1775-7 have usually either very weak obverse or bear signs of attachment, like the one in this post. Has anyone an explanation? In my humble opinion they were made into buttons. Any thoughts?
I have seen a number of those variety coins with a different inscription in the obverse exergue. I don't think they are legitimate coin variety or a mule. Mule would have a mix of obv and rev of two existing coins - I don't know a coin with that alternative obv.
Could be a fantasy coin. I will keep looking.

Thanks.
