Hello All to the coin gurus out there'

I am thinking of starting a Bid Board in my store and I am hopping you guys and gals could help me with that, right now I have two portable box show cases that I am going to put the coins in there under locked key!and it will be attached to the rabbinate buy a metal cord.and I am going to put the boxes in the safe at night. so as for the security of the coins I think I have covered that issues, now is there a do and don't that I need to know as far as the buyer and sellers, I mean is there a manual that I need to create, if so dose anyone have one that I can use NOT COPY but use it as a reference to write mine?

I will be greatly appreciated for any and all help.

I have only seen two of these and they both worked the same. The items were displayed in a similar fashion as you have mentioned and each had a sheet with the ending date and time along with established bid increments. The sheet also had columns for the bidders name and their bid. If the first person bid $10 and the bid increment was $1 then bidder 2 had to bid at least $11 and so on and so forth. Whoever had the highest bid at the established end date and time was the winner and the shop owner would notify them to come in and pick up the item and pay.

The bid board at my local shop is members-only at $5/year. Setting bid increments is important and should vary depending on the number of active bidders. You may want to consider having an assigned number for the shop to act as a "reserve price" bidder for better items. To counteract timed bids and throw in the element of surprise, signal the end of the bid board with a bell/alarm that goes off at a random time. At my local shop the bell can can go off at any time between 6:55 and 7:05PM on Monday evenings, a last second bid will count as long as pen is to paper. Once the timer goes off, the final bid is sealed by marking it with a highlighter on the bidding card. Accept bid board member consignments and charge 10% to the seller, easy way for oldtimers to get rid of duplicates when they don't want to deal with online sales.
