ebay would actually pull the listing and give a full refund, as their "no replica coins" policy is now in effect.

The seller's description never really did infer in any way that it was an authentic coin. Let the buyer beware!

There's a big warning right before you submit an ebay coin listing that tells you that you are guarantying the coin to be genuine by listing it.

This is a classic scam--the wording of the auction tells all.
The seller acts like a total rube "look at what I found--is it gold?"
Buyers want to believe he's ignorant--because they're going to clean him out.
Buh-bye to your $560

Nine different bidders placed bids on this "gold" coin. I would suspect at least one shill bidder. Greed in making a quick buck off of someone else's lack of knowledge will ultimately bite a person in the rear. They say love is blind well, greed can cloud someone's eyesight as well.

Since ebay doesn't allow the sales of fakes, its presence on the site is a prima facie claim of being genuine.

Oh my! Any one who didn't just start coin collecting this afternoon, would be able to spot that as a fake from 50 paces away. I have to say I don't feel the least bit sorry for the winning (?) bidder.

I think you will find that that is one of those three inch coasters. This is based on the size of the piece compare the vent holes in the equipment behind it and the nap of the carpet/towel that it is on.

Perhaps he's an avid collector of obviously fake gold coins. Money well spent in his eyes!
