I'm a total noob to impaired proofs, so forgive me when I say it looks like it's plated. Probably more to do with the golden tone from the lighting in the photo.

So impaired proof has to do with the waves in the fields?

Impaired proof refers to a proof coin found in circulation.

Very nice. An impaired proof is really a proof coin that grades below a 60. Just like you can find uncirculated coins in circulation. Hence why the term uncirculated was changed to mint state.

I found my first proof in circulation a couple weeks ago. 1979 nickel :)
