It has to be rare, the coin is dated 1836. It was minted 9 years before his presidency while he was the house speaker.

Better yet: it states that the date of it is 1836 but his presidency is from 1845 - 1849

He even gives it a catalog number of KM# Pn60 and calls it a pattern!

It is already up to $12 for a common and circulated dollar coin.
And he said it has a plain edge. He is either blind or could it be a plain edge coin?
I already asked him a question on it and included a link to the Mint's web site on the coin. Hopefully he responds and cancels his auction. For some reason, my question didn't post on the auction, but was sent to him. I thought you could post a public question? If someone knows how to do it, I would suggest asking him.

I went ahead and reported it based on the composition of gold (gave the correct composition information) and the 1836 date. I wonder if they will respond in time.

wquinn, to post a public question on ebay, the seller has to choose to add it to the listing, otherwise it just is for him/her to view I believe.

I reported it with this message, and yes, it is up to the seller to post the question in the listing with an answer. I don't write to the sellers in cases like this anymore. It is useless. This is an ordinary blurred image of a common US Presidential One Dollar coin. The trick here is to word the coin as a gold presidential pattern dated 1836 with a catalog number within the detailed information. Compare this image with any listing using key words in ebay selling a Polk dollar. Thank you.

Quote: *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. *** For the benefit of those who have asked about this... We move posts all the time. It is not a bad thing! Sometimes posts will benefit by being in a forum that better relates to the material of the thread. Keep in mind that some members only frequent the specific forums that interest them. If a post is in a less appropriate forum, those who could best answer or benefit from the post may never see it. For example, questions about potential errors are often moved the the appropriate Variety & Error forum. In the case of this thread, it was moved from the Main forum to the Modern US coins forum because the focus is a Modern US coin. I want to stress that no one should ever feel bad if their post is moved. I hope everyone understands why we do this now.
