1912 Indian Head Quarter eagles were only minted in Philadelphia, so there won't be a mintmark. This is considered a common date and will be worth only slight (if any) premium to melt. The band is likely 10k or 14k and should be marked.

You can determine the total gold weight by subtracting the total weight from the coin weight then calculate the fineness of each times the weight of each. The coin is 0.900 X 4.18g = 3.76g = 0.121 troy ounces.

Since this is a grading forum, I'll mention that from the pictures, it appears to be VF in grade, or thereabouts. So yes, no premium over melt. Furthermore, it's almost certainly been polished, which in the world of numismatic coins is "improperly cleaned", meaning as a numismatic coin, it would receive a "VF Details: Cleaned" grade, meaning its net grade and value to a collector is significantly less than a coin even in VF condition. Since numismatic premiums for gold coins don't start for this date until the AU grade, this is all irrelevant. But perhaps useful to somebody reading.

i would put it on ebay but really not sure it would work considering I can't get an accurate weight for the entire ring or the band. you guys think all that is necessary or is this something I could just put on maybe for a set price or bid situation?

Jewelry value only, which could be above gold value.

There is nothing to prevent you from getting an accurate weight, the $2 1/2 quarter eagle is a known quantity at 4.18 grams of 90% gold- everything else will be 10k or 14k gold weight from the ring. As long as the ring is properly hallmarked, it is a simple mathematical task to calculate the Actual Gold Weight(AGW). If it is not properly hallmarked, then you cannot assume it is gold and the ring will need to be acid tested.

going by that weight estimate itself, could you give a rough estimate, band aside, what this could be worth on ebay compared to melt value?

There's $201 in gold just counting the coin. The band is likely 14k gold and probably has a $100 worth of gold in it. The hallmark and total weight of the ring would be needed to verify this of course.

I sold a ring similar to this for around $300 last year. Your ring is probably worth about that much.
