I dont know if its me but does anyone see the difference in the near and far beads here. I see it as the left being the near beads?

Thanks wert, thats what I see so now the question is, did I find something new since I dont see any of this in the charlton or anywhere else so it would appear the both the year 1983 and 1984 have something in common lol.

Dont think you will find it as it was not reported but there is deffinitely a difference as with the 1983 coins so now is the 1984 only that this one 1984 seem to be on the tail of the penny where as the 1983 is the the head of the penny

Hi falcon99

There is no difference in my opinion it simply looks like one has been flattened slightly, look at the rim and the leaf.

Hi Common, there is a difference, look at the spacing between the beads and the word Canada, You can see the bottom picture showing the beads to be closer to the lettering.

To be honest folcan99. I do not notice any difference in the spacing between the beads and the rim or the beads and the lettering. I may be wrong...it would not be the first time. In your first picture...there seems to be more shadowing from the rim of the coin. Usually...if you have a near and far bead there would be noticeable difference where the beads line up with the spacing the lettering. If you look at the beads below the N in CANADA...the beads are spaced exactly the same (4 beads in the exact same spacing/position) for both coins. The same for the position of the beads for all the other letters as well.

Hi there. Something I've noticed in the past is that the '84 pennies occasionally have a wider rim. That might be the case here, giving the appearance of near and far beads.

Because of the rim,I believe it is simply an optical illusion.

Sorry, not sure what happened to the pic but after 22 coins that I have, 7 of them are farther away from the rim.

Sorry --falcon99--Like I said previously and I agree with--cladhunter13-- and --collectall-- Al's you have is a flattened penny, 7 times.
---Not to discourage you but look at your last pics the maple leaves on the left show heavy wear and the rim is clearly flattened. PMD (post mint damage) Could even be a hammer or run over by a car!
