I came across 5 of them last night. If you're looking to "make a deal" on some key date Morgans (or know someone who's been considering it), triple check their cert IDs:

http://fakes.numismetrica.com/categ...-coins/pcgs/

Dates in question are 1879-CC, 1893-CC (x2), 1893-S, 1895-O. Contents of the holders are counterfeits from mainland China.

I love the 1903 CC Morgan! I really hope thats never fooled anyone....

How does checking the PCGS certification ID numbers do anything? I would assume the counterfeiter has simply copied and printed a real ID number.

@Cali_Nick - Hehe, unfortunately, three of the 1903-CC Morgans were purchased for over $30 each by the local cash for gold place that I picked them up from. The perils of buying bulk lots without the proper know-how. :-) Also I've linked the Cert numbers on the fake slabs to PCGS' verification service ( pcgs.com/cert ) . They sadly don't always list pictures to compare like NGC tends to, but it's better than nothing.

That is because NGC has been photographing every coin the slab and posting them for over three years now. PCGS is just beginning to post images.

PCGS needs to catch up, stuff like this ticks me off to high heaven. How do you know for sure 100% that they are fake, have you cracked them open an tested them? I as well am not registering how a faker could not simply copy an paste the correct serial numbers....

Why do most fakes come from China? If you don't believe in anything, messing with people over should come REAL easy, being there is ZERO consequences for your actions....

I hope all these con artists ripping off good hard working people light up the gates of heck one day! An no doubt they will and at that time I will grin like a possum an be content, but not till then....

Has anyone ever tried to use a magnet on a slab, as it should still pull through the plastic I would assume? As any fake I put the magnet to, it sticks to it hard like glue! And don't get your finger caught in between, lol. The magnet an my metal loupe have nearly pinched the fire out of me before....
