Over the years I have spent tons of star notes. I do know they are replacement bills so to day I went to the bank and found a pretty nice ondition star note (10$) bUT WHAT IS ITS VALUE AND WHY ARE THEY IN SUCH A BIG DEMAND. iT IS A 1999 bf16813944 WITH A STAR. Some one fill me in on the star note desire. I only see it as anothet ten dollar bill. Tell me why its such a big deal please?

I love them cause I like the way the star looks on them, and cause they are worth more. I could be wrong but my guess in why they are worth more is because there are less of them made, harder to get even though we do see them every now and then, they are still rare.

Star notes are more rare because there are less of them made. But the 1999, 2001, and 2003 star notes are not worth really anything. No one will give you anything for them. The only $10 star notes that are worth a decent amount are the 1995 and earlier ones and the new (yellowish) 2004 series. I could fine 20 $10 star notes in one night if I wanted to.

I probably have no idea what I'm talking about since I don't really collect currency. I was told if the Treasury prints a note and it's defective they issue a new note with the same serial number and put the star behind it to denote that it's a reprint. The defective note is then destroyed. I always assumed that's why star notes were worth "a little" more since the only time they print them is when the make a print error.

Maybe I was given wrong information, but that's what I was told.
