CoinWorld Announcements says: "David L. Cannon has opened World Coin Grading Service, exclusively for the authentication and grading of non-U.S. coins minted since 1500."

He has actually been doing that for several months before Coin World noticed it. I probably first ran across his service about six months ago but I haven't seen an actual specimen yet. Just some scans and not of the whole holder.
Rest in Peace

If we're talking about the same World Coin Grading http://www.worldcoingrading.com/, we discussed it in the thread https://goccf.com/t/12091 and gave it some serious debunking for some serious overgrading practices. I don't subscribe to Coin World, so didn't read the article. There may be in fact two different companies: WCG Service and WCG Company. The wannabe ripoff is WCG Company as referenced in the URL above. If they are in fact two separate graders, David Cannon is going to have some serious identity, credibility, and reputation problems from the other.

They are different companies. David Cannon's firm ONLY grades world coins.

There have been three different World Coin Grading certification services. From what I have seen David Cannon's service is probably using sealed flips along the lines of ICCS, not slabs, but I can't be sure as I have not seen an uncropped image of the holder.

Here is a recent article about David L. Cannon.

Is different than the other, though because of the 2 being so close in name it could be mis-construed by some.

Looks solid to me. I wonder if he does simple identification of coins, particularly old (say, 1300s through early 1900s) Oriental (but also Arabic) such as Chinese, Annamese, Cambodian, Thai, Cochin, and a few others from eastern Asia with which I have a fair number and have had a great deal of difficulty with identification. Come to think about it, an identification service is a numismatic niche which has not yet been filled. For any single such coin, I have numerous sites to which I can go, but it usually takes hours and hours to ID such a coin and even then, the ID isn't positive because a single slash in an Oriental character can change the identity of a coin. It would be worth $5 to me to be able to send in a whole bunch of coins for identification instead of spending days or weeks in often fruitless searches trying to make a match.
