http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/31/5112#t8It's subject to change, and a long ways off, but section t8 of the section of the US Code linked above says: Quote: (8) Designs after end of program.-- Upon the completion of the coin program under this subsection, the design on-- (A) the obverse of the quarter dollar shall revert to the same design containing an image of President Washington in effect for the quarter dollar before the institution of the 50-State quarter dollar program; and (B) notwithstanding the fourth sentence of subsection (d)(1), the reverse of the quarter dollar shall contain an image of General Washington crossing the Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton. veeeery iiinteresting, no?

Huh, that's very cool reading. Wonder if there are any design suggestions/prototypes out there.

Something is very interesting. When I went back and tried to find the subsection (d)(1) the fourth sentence of this act it reads: "Subject to other provisions of this subsection, the obverse of any 5-cent coin issued after December 31, 2005, shall bear the likeness of Thomas Jefferson and the reverse of any such 5-cent coin shall bear an image of the home of Thomas Jefferson at Monticello."
So I am confused as to how and why this initial section referred to (talking about quarters) is referenced back to a subsection sentence talking about nickels. My reference above was taken from the only subsection (d)(1) that I could find that had a fourth sentence. Could we be looking for a reference somewhere else.
So I am really confused in that the reading appears to be self-explanatory but the reference item is totally obscure to me unless I am mistaken. If you look back under section (t) Redesign and Issuance of Quarter Dollars Emblematic of National Sites in Each State, the District of Columbia, and Each Territory.-- there is no section (d)(1) that has a fourth sentence.
I for one am really confused as to what is truly being said here. Something appears to be missing.

The fourth sentence of subsection d(1) is
"The design on the reverse side of the dollar, half dollar, and quarter dollar is an eagle."
Meaning that the quarter reverse doesn't have to be the eagle.

Yea, I don't know how you could make that reverse much different from the NJ quarter. Seems like they could use their imagination a little more and come up with something new. Don't get me wrong, GW is a hero of mine, but I like seeing new designs. Who knows, maybe they'll knock our socks off! Let's hope so.

Just now discovering this? Quote: Looking forward to this exciting coin in 2022! Possibly not until 2034. During the eighth year of the ATB program the Secretary of the Treasury is given the option to do a second round of national parks etc. If he decides to do a second round the "New Jersey State Quarter" won't show up until 2034.
