See this thread for info on the Florida court case.

This is the first I'd heard that not all the treasure had been sent to the US. Sounds like just one of the white tubs went ashore at Gibraltar, and stayed there.

I would have thought that treasure-hunters would operate under an extreme version of "Commercial: in-confidence". Thus, there could be a lot of treasure-hunting going on, that we'll never hear about, or only hear about when the treasure is safely beyond the reach of the Spanish government and other possible claimants.
