Some people have all the luck! I shop at a local mom & pop grocery here in town. I know the owners pretty well and occasionally they will find an odd coin and give it to me (because I told them I collect). Anyway last month the owner tells me he got his usual coin rolls from the bank for the store one morning and opened the first roll of quarters. ALL were silver. Standing libertys!!!

He then checked the other rolls, out of 10 rolls, 6 are silver. So he asked me about them and I told him I don't know what he has, since I haven't actually seen them, but would love to buy them from him. I iniatially offerd him 6X face, I really had no idea what to offer someone on that and he said he will let me know. Was that not enough? He did say some of them were very worn. He's not a collector but of course he may want to keep them just because they are silver.

So what would be a fair price? And how come the bank never gives me rolls of silver?

Thanks
Margaret

DANG....
That is one heck of a find. Just tell him they are Canadian and give him $7.50 per roll. haha, just kidding.
I think 6x face is fair. He could sell them for a lot more... but if you spent retail for them, I'm sure you could get better quality ones on your own. But if you offer him like $200 for $60 worth of quarters, I'm sure he would be quite pleased...

6X face is rather low. Most places will pay 8X face for junk silver.

it reminds me of when my cousin called me and told me he just bought $200 in quarters from the bank...all silver. we were flipping out because some old lady had just came in and cashed her deceased husbands rolls in. we had quite a fun time the next few days going through everything and grading them!
