I would have simply taken the item from the floor and told him it was no longer for sale and let the fool explain THAT to the winning bidder.

As for the coin, if you like, buy it. The premium for the toning is determined solely by YOU. You have to live with the purchase, so you need to know what you are willing to pay. Sounds to me like you are willing to pay what he is asking.

Well, I did it!
Purchased the coin. Instead of trying to bargain on the price, I asked him if he would include the individual grading costs.

Since the coin is in a graded set holder, I would have had him break the half out and I would have it individually slabbed. Instead, he's going to take care of sending it all in to pcgs. It's a good deal to me!

Anyway, I hope the coin comes back with the same pr65 cameo grade, but the holder is just protection to me. Either way, I'm very happy with this coin and I can't wait to have it in hand. Will share pictures when she gets home!

Thanks to everyone for the comments and feedback. Very helpful.

Gem cameo franklins are quickly becoming a sort of obsession for me. The Franklin half is hands down my favorite series.
