The close ups suggest a thinning of the patina or a weaker strike, or both, on the high points.

You have to remember that the standard practice (an unwritten Code of Practice?) for all TPG's is to examine the coin with a 10 x, (no more, no less), loupe.

The close ups help to 'level the playing field' for US, when viewing what is presented on the computer screen.

I could look at this one forever and never see an MS-65 coin, but oh well, more grading skills need to be developed. Anyway, HORAY! for TreeMonkey. That's got to be a near record...maybe expecting a 53 details grade and coming back clean and 12 points higher. I'd go buy a lottery ticket. You're on a roll.

Lipstick on a pig?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a coin in-hand is worth a thousand pictures. I don't know why my camera sees the coins the way it does (exacerbating flaws), but in-hand it is so much nicer...and that's all that really matters.

These most recent images definitely show the coin in a much better "light"! Congrats on the grade. You're off to a great start on your collection.

I am also surprised by the grade. However, I stand by my original opinion of the wonderful eye appeal.

That is amazing it got an MS-65 grade on it. I didn't think it would grade that high?
