My submissions should be received by PCGS today (crossing fingers). This is one of them. Appears to me to be a candidate for a high grade but I don't have the experience to back that up. Opinions welcome!

Great looking coin. Many of these are of high grade and seemed to have been handled well at the mint, mine is also bright white and mark free.

Lovely coin. The obverse is remarkably hit free ... assume the squiggle at the truncation of the bust above RALEIGH is lint? A few minor field hits are seen the date ... The reverse has a bit more hits and scuffs in the fields. Can not tell from the photo what is going on with the apparently bag hit on Ellinor Dare drapery ... nearly at the center of the coin ... is this on the coin or another lint piece? Difficult for me to gauge the luster based on the photo (scan?). Take a look for us on the obverse ... just below Sir Raleigh eye ... and on his eyebrow ... is that a break in the luster? ... that is the high point of the obverse design and might signify an AU58 slider. Assuming the luster is full and complete ... I'm going with MS64 ... perhaps MS65 if you get the graders on a good day. Thanks for sharing. David

Reached back for an old photo. Same coin but in plastic. Perhaps a better photo for grade estimates? Quote: perhaps MS65 if you get the graders on a good day Cheers to that

Awesome coin. I have this one too, since I've been living in NC for over 16 years now.

Actually ... the initial photo is better for estimating a technical grade ... the muted lighting shows potential surface flaws. Note again my comment about potential rub on Sr. Raleigh cheek ... as shown in your original photo ... do not be disappointed if this lovely coin comes back as AU58. I'm staying with PCGS MS64 as my best estimate. David

Based on how far off I was on your Bay Bridge, I would now expect this one to come back about MS-77.

Lovely coin ... fair grade IMHO at PCGS MS64 ... another excellent example for your set Bill. I suppose I am now 2 for 3 right on ... with that conundrum of your MS65 Bay Bridge being the significant bust on my part. Still wondering about that coin. David

The coin may have graded MS-64 but the case is AU-58 (scratches on reverse).

Another very attractive coin! Seeing it closer to 'actual size' gives me a better view of the coin's luster and overall eye appeal -- I like it! Congrats!

It is nice seeing the results and how close some of our experts are to those at PCGS.

I'm surprised it just got an MS-64. A really beautiful coin!
