yea 1879 S is such a common yr you can do alot better (cheaper)

Too bad it wasn't a '78 Reverse! That would be a steal!!

Seeing as it's not, I feel strongly that he's asking a fair price for the coin. That's $20 cheaper than the PCGS Price Guide. I personally don't know where you'd be able to get it for any cheaper, presuming the seller knows what he is selling.

My suggestion, if you like the coin (toning, fields, cheek, strike, etc.), go for it. This is a common coin in 65 grade, so if you're not completely satisfied with the coin, keep looking. There are more to be explored.

It sounds like it may be a bit on high side. If there is something else positive about it like high end for the grade or nice toning, then it may be well worth the price.
