Hi I'm new to the coin collecting hobby/lifestyle and would like to know if anyone could help me I.D. this coin.

I'm located in Canada and inherited this coin/medallion from my Grand Parents.

I've taken it to a local a local shop where the owner wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Maybe someone on the board will be able to shed some light on this little enigma.

It may be nothing more than a "miniature" someone took the time to create, in any case here it is!

It's made out of silver, pretty much all I know about it.

Here are the specs on it:

There are miniature US coins made, for just souvenirs and aren't worth anything.

Is it an actual half dollar or really small?

If actual size, someone could have just ground down the reverse on it.

It's obviously not a genuine Kennedy half based on the portrait and whatever text is under the portrait. Assuming the holder is a standard 2X2 this piece is roughly nickel-sized. So, I'd guess it is some kind of souvenir medallion.

If it's silver it would be worth bullion price. Otherwise I expect it would have no collector value.

It's actually slightly smaller than a US Dime.

I spotted one on ebay for $5.00ish. Supposedly made out of brass.

Oh well!
