I guess that's what this is. Any ideas about the history of it?

That is a "Silver art bar". Just a pretty way to buy bullion silver.

So it would basically be worth whatever the price of silver is?

Mary,

That is correct. They are usually issued as 1 oz bars or rounds. Me and my wife have several and was all we bought when we first started, that was until I discovered coins. They are worth the price of bullion but sometimes if they are of a really neat design that more than one person wants then they can go for more than silver spot price. Coins with dragons on them seem to do quite well for some reason.

What's the best website you recommend for silver bars? I think I am starting to take an interest in silver bars. What's your forecast for the future or silver?

I personally recommend finding a reputable coin dealer in your area that has em. Sometimes they only sell em for not much over BV and you save on the hassle of waiting and paying shipping. And you get to see closs up what you are buying. Guy in my area has an entire case of 1oz rounds and bars as well as some really large 10 - 100 oz bars

The bar shown is a USSC silver bar, it is worth about $5.00 over spot because of rarity and the mint. Most silver bars that are worth much more than silver melt. Unless you get the happy birthday, happy easter, etc.
I have several thousand silver bars, many are very rare and hard to get which makes them very expensive. The Coca Cola 75th anniversary bars are a very hard to find and expensive silver bar.
Silver bars are more than a pretty way to buy silver bullion.

Here is a good site for bars

sleaklight try this site goldismoney.info for talking about silver bars. there is alot smart people on this site. it is a open site not a family site. also alot of people say silver bars are just worth bullion. but when silver goes up the value of the bars go up. instant profit! coins dont always go up and it could take years for some coins to go up. I dont think silver bars are a bad investment if you know when to buy and sell and goldismoney.info will help you out.

I like this one.

They have a spot bullion price on here too that is quite useful for gauging what silver, gold and Pt is worth.
