Yesterday, I paid $5.50 in halves for a sandwich and some chips. Today, I spent a single half to complement the $20 bill I used to buy a dozen bagels and a dozen donuts, and another $8 in halves to buy a sandwich and a greeting card. This is a total of $14 in halves.

I took a bunch of dollar and half dollar coins with me on a trip to New York. But I only spent 3 dollars and 1 half dollar. I ended up with a huge pile of change by the time I got home. Oh well. At least when I spent the half dollar at a rest area on the turnpike the cashier said to another person behind the counter, "Look what I just got. I am going to keep this one". It made me feel good.
