I didn't include this in the total but it is an interesting story. I was at one of my houses yesterday working on something and my tenants daughter said it was her birthday. I asked her how old she was and she said that she was 7. I handed her a half dollar and she said that she would put it in her bank. I asked her if she knew what it was and she said "yes, it is 50 cents". I was very surprised that a 7 year old girl knew what a half dollar was because I have spent several at stores where much older teenagers or young adults have given me change for a dollar (I corrected them of course).

$100 halves: cigs and groceries

$56.631 to go

(thank you jack for spending a single half, that was annoying me and was trying to find something to spend 50 cents on just to get rid of it here.)

((I and getting tired of that people not knowing what a half is and thinking it is a dollar. Would I be in the wrong the next time someone hands me back part of a roll and I don't check it and they take 7 halves for a $7 purchase? I am really getting tired of being told I am wrong by cashiers that do not even know what money is. it says on the coin half dollar, and they cannot even do the math to figure how many halves, make a whole dollar? it even says on the rolls $10 HALVES!))

Spent $20 in halves at the grocery store this morning.

Spent $5 in halves and a dollar coin at McDonalds for lunch on a $5.78 order. The girl gave me 4 dollars and change back. I gave her the $4 back and told her that those were halves and I gave her $6 total.

I had a similar experience at Burger King on time.
