So I had an extra $20 burning a hole in my pocket last week and I bought 10 rolls of nickels. I hadn't bought any rolls for a couple of months so I was itching to get sorting.

As I was going through them I found a disproportionately large numbers of MS 2011's. I get fed wrapped rolls from Wells Fargo. I commented to my daughter that it looked as if they suddenly dumped all their 2011s into circulation to make room for the 2012s.

Anyone else notice this?

It is just you.......

Lol.

Kidding....2011 is over....the total production is now in the pipeline....so it would make sense that the most recent minting is what dominates rolls. Historical dates disappear over time due to loss, destruction or coin jars...the more time goes on the less of each date are left to represent their "class". This time next year 2012 will dominate rolls assuming they mint a similar quantity. Their lack of age and circulation time also improves the chance of finding new or near new examples.

I'm still getting near solid '11 boxes. There seems to be a handfull of others to ruin the box.
