just curious of what anyone knows about these -

Found alil info about them but figured you guys would know more about it - As in what its about . where it was minted . ? was there a TON made or is it on the rare side ? and whats it made of ?

the info I found didnt tell me much , was only an auction that the seller just basicly wrote out what was already on the coin lol ..

any insight would be much appreciated .. I know it MAYBE common , but to me its rather new and unusual .. Gona be a keeper to me one way or the other haha . But would like to see whats known about these lil fellas ..

This is not a coin ... but rather a medal produced by some firm to honor Ben Franklin.

Appears from the photo to be a copper alloy of some sort in circulated condition.

Suggest you might have better luck identifying this medal if placed in the appropriate forum ... that would be the one where the medal experts hang out.

Ugh - lol -

Sorry about that , I really wasnt sure where this would go (thought it was some sort of coin but makes sense that it would be a Medal ugh I swear I had a brain at some point)

.. Ill poke around and see if I can find the proper forum .

I've read somewhere in the past that this was a souvenir medal available in the Gift Shop of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. But I can't confirm it with absolute certainty. It does make good sense though. I recall the piece being available in the 1970s/80s.

The FI is a museum focused on science and technology. It also features the US Benjamin Franklin National Memorial -- a large and impressive marble statue in the museum's rotunda; the statue is the the work of James Earle Fraser.

The medal you have isn't particularly rare; it often sells for $5.00 to $10.00 on sites like ebay.

Thanks a ton brother - Making me want to go check out the Franklin Institute Since I'm right across the river from philadelphia basicly (about 20/25mins away !!)
