I just purchased this one off ebay and I am hoping the coin looks better in hand. Any thoughts? thanks.

I can't imagine it looking any better in hand. That's a very nice coin with good detail. Excellent portrait. Well struck.

I think the focus is a little soft--there might be some more sharpness on the coin. Nice centering and strike!

I got the coin for a fairly low price considering its condition which I assume was due to the holiday weekend. I am hoping the coloration of the coin is not as bright as it is in the sellers images.

Oh baby that's a beauty! Nice pickup. I bought two coins Easter Sunday as well. I will post pictures tomorrow. I always love holidays because I can always find terrific coins for low prices online. Did anyone else take advantage of the lower Easter prices?

Excellent coin from the pictures presented, but if I were to buy it, I would like to see it in hand under a 15x loupe.
Fortunately from my experience, there more good coins of Severus Alexander in this condition than duds, by a factor of about 1:8.

I got this coin a while back but realized after I got it that, like sel_691 says, there are many better coins of S.Alexander than this one. (do your research before you buy!) I could of found a better centered one for not much more I think. I paid 26.00 for this one. Yours is a very nice example.

I am just curious but what would a coin in this condition typically go for(want to see how well I did).

Had a quick look at the 'VCOINs' site. Doucet paid about the right price for his.
Because there is a good range of denariii available for this Emperor, condition vs. price conventions are reasonably well established.

I paid about 51 for mine which might have been a good deal depending on what the surface of the coin looks like close up. I'll post pictures when I receive it later this week.

While denarius are plentiful for this emperor, most are not as good as this one appears to be. At $51, you got a good deal. With this coins excellent detail, good centering, and clear legends I would have no problem paying $75 it.

I am quite happy with how the surface of the coin looks in hand. The lettering on the legends on the obverse and reverse are all as clear as "sev" on the obverse (had trouble focusing). The coin weighs 3.584 grams and is 20mmx18mm. I think I have attributed it but please check my work. Ric IV 55 mint rome 226AD.
