This will be my first post and I have to say this site has been extremely informative to me so thanks to all those that contribute so freely. Fairly new to collecting but have been thrown into it in a big way after inheriting a sizable collection. Still trying to learn grading and the PCGS sites pictures has been a tremendous asset to have. Hoping to be able to learn what to submit for grading and what not to waste my money with (not that much to give).

Being extremely picky about spots and marks I was hoping that some of the experts could help me grade these two examples of 1966 Lincolns that I picked out of a mint bag I have. These are not the finest examples I have but thought these would give a good baseline.

Thank you in advance for any help and critiques on these coins. Next thing I have to do is photograph all the toned coins I've found and still trying to catalog everything. What a task but I'm loving every minute of it.

Below are pictures but here is the link to an album on Photobucket for larger views.

Glenn5691!

They look about MS64 to me, but the top one might be a hair better. Now that you've caught the collecting bug, HAVE FUN!

Thanks for getting back to me and I guess I have a lot to learn about grading. Was looking at an example of MS64 on PCGS site that looks so much worse then these examples (link) http://images.pcgs.com/CoinFacts/20638797_2200.jpg

These two coins in hand look beautiful but high resolution pictures look so much worse.

I think there are too many marks on both for 64.

63 and 62

Thanks everyone for giving me your opinions. It's really nice to hear from others what they feel the grade is. Need to work on my lighting for pictures as these really don't capture the shiny red surface and luster of the coins.

I picked these from the top of the bag and there are so many nice ones in there. this is going to take some time but my wife and daughter are helping and starting to catch the bug also.

Welcome to CC!

Dang, nice pictures for a newbie! Just a little tweeking and you're good.

Both appear to be about MS-64. The first might be a 65. Luster plays a big factor in TPG grading, it's not all about hits and spots.
