I have a 1841 cent in VF-XF (no photos because I don't have a decent enough camera yet), and I've heard somewhere that there are large and small date varieties of it.
Question: how to tell which one mine is, and if any of them is rarer (and worth more) then which one?
Also, I've heard somewhere that 1841 is one of the key dates in the Braided Hair Cent series, due to low mintage. Is that really true?
And another question: my cent has a full bold LIBERTY. I've seen many letters in LIBERTY (especially the L) being much less bold in mamy other large cent images. Is mine actually outstanding or is that problem only for Mature Head (1843+) cents?
PS: And just in case: what is it worth in VF-XF? One coin collector I consulted said $80, which sounds incredibly high; I paid about $35 for it, which is probably on the low side

All 1841's are small dates.

Although prices and mintages don't show it, I've always found that the 1840 - 44 cents are "elusive",

1841 has the third lowest mintage of the Braided Hair type. 1855 is only slightly lower and is priced less. The 1857 had only 333K minted since the Act of Feb. 21, 1857 provided for the coinage of the new Flying Eagle cent.

Here are a couple links to aid you in pricing and grading.
