Anyone ever buy a box of sealed halves off ebay? I am already anticipating going through the box I ordered at my bank to arrive on Thursday, wayyyyy too quick, and would like another one lined up! LOL Any good?

On ebay it would probably cost you $600 or more for a box. Does not seem like a good idea at all because you'd have to find a lot of silver coins to cover that $100 loss.

I don't find enough silver to pay for gas money, and I ride my bicycle to the bank. No way you'd find enough silver to cover ebay fees and shipping.

There was an offer for an unwrapped box of cents ($25.00 face ) yesterday. With seven bids on it at $37.50 and $15.00 for shipping. Just nuts! I did not see the final bid. LOL

Not to mention I'm sure they're "unsearched".

Why not just go to the bank and ask them?

Some people don't know you can ask for them at the bank. But even for those that do, many banks won't order them, or will only order limited quantities.

It's really hard here in NYC to get boxes. Next to impossible!

Maybe if you could somehow get it for face or less (and that includes shipping).
In other words, I would not do it.
The box being "sealed" has no guarantee at all.

I have been through over $1200 in halves that I bought at face value from the bank and I have found 4, 40% kennedys, a 1943 Walking Liberty, a large penny and an indian rupee. Not at all worth the cost on ebay, but for .50 for each of those I cant complain a bit!

Im not sure.. It looks like it might be nickel but it seems lighter. Mine has a strange stripey discoloration to it as well. I'm not sure if that is a stain or if it is actually in the metal. This is a pic I found online of a similar coin.

Get rid of the spaces I have in those two brackets, and type in between them. Boom, you have now quoted someone.
