It's amazing to me that people expect to sell coins when they can't get a picture in focus.

Is this your coin, allranger?

If it is, here's a tip:

Most point and shoot cameras can do both close-up and distance photography.

If you're doing an extreme close-up, you would use the Macro mode on your camera - the one that looks like a tulip. It's tough to light macros - you have to keep your camera and yourself out of the light.

If you're not using macro mode, your lens probably has a "minimum focus distance" that is greater than the distance you put between the coin and your camera. Move the camera away from the coin until you can get the coin in focus.

In the image, the coin may look small. You'll need to "crop" the image down on the coin. Most image editing software has a "crop" feature. Select the coin by clicking and dragging your mouse over it, make sure you get the whole coin. Then, find the "Crop" command. Save the file as a copy or a new file. Then you can resize it to fit.

If this is too difficult, or if this is too much work, don't expect to sell your coin to a savvy buyer. Expect to sell it to a noob that doesn't know better. "Looks like an MS Morgan!" But it could be fake. No way to tell from these photographs.

If you can take a decent picture of your coin, expect to sell it more quickly, and to more discerning buyers.

Now, if this is not your coin - thanks for the chuckle.

And sorry for the tirade. At least, I hope I helped somebody out there...

No, no, no. It is not my coin. I was just amused by the kind of posts people make trying to sell coins and was sharing it.

Honestly, with a picture set like that I begin wonder if the coin is genuine or not.

I guess they didn't want to be bothered with taking another photo?

A picture is worth a thousand words and that photo says I don't want to sell it.

Pictures mean so much, when selling a coin, and they do help out a lot in getting the correct amount of money for it.
