So you let us all hang!
---Not so odd, rare or more rare but collectible to some, essentially neat MD.
---A hanger is a term used for a die clash that presents itself to appear to hang a number or letter.
---Still please show us what you got.

DvntMstr, I'll help you out here.
I think it started out as a play on words when people said the hanging dates were "1953 until 1965" which excluded 1965, and the was stated as "1953 till 1965" which includes 1965.

When I started looking for die clashes I had 25 circulated rolls of '65s to look through, and I found couple. Of the '65s type 2 compared to type 3 was a ratio of 3:1. When I found the clashed cents, the type 2s were 1/500 but the type 3s were 1/200. The type 3s were slightly rarer but more likely to have a die clash.

I've found 2 different type of die clashes for this date range.
The first type would be your classic hanger but moves north east and is referred to as a cocoon.

http://s989.photobucket.com/albums/...DC_1edit.png

The second type would be the forehead clash under the "1" of cent.

Ive only recently been looking the type 2 clash but the seem more plentiful and far easier to see than a type 1 clash

Thanks Cubro, those are close to what l have. lm having trouble getting a pic to show it. This is a clash coming off the top of the 5 running up through the branch and curving back towards the leaf. lt has the classic hanger shape and is very similar to the half moon clashes except it does extend all the way to the 5.

They are V3, LBB5. After searching countless rolls searching for one l had begun to think they were excluded like you said above - 53 to 65 but not on the 65, in this last batch of rolls l got (5 rolls of 65s) l found just over 100 hanging 5s.

l am still trying to get a picture that shows it well but l am no photographer lol

Funny, I was actually looking for that coin. I had 20 rolls of circulated 1965 and I didn't find a single one. Maybe there were a few but too worn for me to notice, maybe I just wasn't lucky. But then I went to Nuphilex and at SPP-Ottawa's table, there it was, looking at me with puppy eyes. It's a blunt 5 small beads, and is quite nice. I'll get a picture.

Hum not quite, I guess you're trading lots of nickel dollars, I wasn't precise enough. You gave me that 2006 clashed penny and I'll give you the dollar at the next club meeting. At Nuphilex I also got a 1975 clashed nickel dollar.

Yes DvntMstr, I have gave those 2006 clashed 1-cent coins to a couple of variety collectors in the Ottawa area. They loved them as much I loved mine. Thanks again!!

Being one of them, I can confirm I love mine :D
I'd say it's my second nicest clash on a penny, only behind this one:

This is probably the best die clash I own...

There is a great web site dedicated to die clashes, my coin is also on there:
