The last survey I saw listed only a handful of this replacement, including this one. It is a mid grade F-VF with no tears, pinholes, or major stains. Report this Post to the Staff

How does a collector date a MPC ?. And being that it does not have a star how does one know it's a replacement note ?. I had a bunch of them awhile back but like you could not find much info on them, so gave them away to some kids that were just starting out in currency collecting. Bill C. In this case it is 1952, but it wasn't actually issued until 1954 I believe. At the beginning and end of the serial number are letters of the alphabet. Replacements are missing the letter at the end or far right. Stars were never used. Report this Post to the Staff

lettow Pillar of the Community United States 742 Posts	Posted 04/15/2012 08:49 am The last edition of the MPC catalog (2002) lists 8 Series 521 $.50 replacements from the first printing including this one. That survey data is at least 10 years old. There is a website with tons of info on MPC but the last time I posted a link to it on this discussion board the mods pulled the posting for some reason. MPCFest, the annual gathering of military paper money collectors in Fred Schwan's hometown of Port Clinton OH is the first weekend in May this year. Report this Post to the Staff
