This sixpence I have wanted to know what happened to it for a while but never got around to posting pics.

There is just way too many lumps all over one face of it to be Cuds right?

It kinda reminds me of welding slag, or when you have a piece of pottery explode in a kiln and it puts shratnal all over the other pottery.

So are these Cuds or did the sixpence have a bad day?

Looks like a 1951PL 3d I have that's been struck with a rusted die.

O Cool I have learnt something new today!
I didn't know that dies could rust, well that a mint would actually use a rusted die anyway.
Do modern dies rust too, or I assume that they use better metal or a surface coating on new dies.
Purple penny you so have to write an article on this I want to lean more.
I found this page on the net that describes it a little... Also it says how they use grease on dies -- this explain how you get a strike through grease coin ;)
