Hi guys,
I have just begun my coin collecting journey by purchasing some uncleaned romans of ebay and am looking forward to seeing how they come out.
this came as a bonus to the 10 uncleaned coins I got and I have no idea what it is. any chance of someone sending me along the right path?

That looks to be a Islamic coin. I can't vouch as to it's authenticity or attributes. Sorry.

I also have a Islamic coin that is a Ummayed fills. Islamic coins are difficult to attribute.

I agree that the coin is Islamic and possibly from the Ottoman Empire. But I know virually nothing about Islamic coins so I am sorry I can't be of more assistance. With your unclean coins, you might want to take before and after photos to document your progress. Post your images so we can see what you have and give our opinions if you want them. Again, welcome.

Regards,

I would suggest you search this forum for posts about uncleaned lots and cleaning encrusted coins. That should answer some of your questions.

Regarding your first coin--one side looks like Devanagari script, while the other side could be Urdu.
Most likely the coin is from the Indian subcontinent, where hammered coins were produced until recently. You might post it to the world coin ID section.
