It is hard to tell exactly which legion, but the history of these is pretty darn clear. I believe it may be hard to find other coins where the history is as clear. Congrats on your acquisition. I bought it from a reputable coin dealer as I am just starting out in collecting Ancient Coins. What I like about this coin is the relative strength of the design as well as the iridescent sheen in the recesses of the coin. This made me overlook the obvious "off centre strike on the obverse. It is a real little "gem" in my collection I have attached some pics of the Denarius. How common is this iridescence in ancient coins? Squire Report this Post to the Staff
