I'm not sure if it's a coin at all. The obverse has the appearance of a Byzantine type coin, but the reverse with the modern looking 1 and T are not consistent with any Byzantine coin I've seen.

thanks for that but on the T side there are 4 crosses one on top to the T, one to the left another to the right and one at the bottom. a friend of mine who collects coins told be its a byzantine coin and quite rare...

but I am new to coins so dont know much. it was found near an old temple which was occupied from punic times.

I am leaning toward a button. Rather than a figure on the obverse, I am seeing rough metal where the loop was snapped off.
